I know what you’re thinking: Why title this page ‘Holiday Shopping’ when I could’ve called it ‘Santa’s Butt’? I really don’t have an answer for you, it was a very tough choice.
My mom and I were Christmas shopping last December, and Urban Outfitters had a rather unconventional photo prop. I twisted her arm, but got my mom to pose with me. This photo had been sitting on my computer since then, but I figured it would be too funny to leave behind so I ordered an 8×10″ from Shutterfly.
I made this page with some ideas in mind that I learned at the CK Scrapbook Convention I attended earlier this month. This page has all kinds of layering which I normally don’t do, and everything is inked in black which I never do, and, to top it off, I tried fussy cutting a tree, which I’ve never even heard of before. (And it’s crazy how it never crossed my mind to start cutting shapes out of background paper). Yeah, so I definitely learned a lot.
I like how it turned out, but I don’t know if layering is the thing for me. Sure, it looks nice, but I like to scrap fairly quickly so I can get more pages done, and all these layers definitely adds a lot of time. Maybe I should just stick with matting everything and be done with it :-D.
The best part about having a holiday photo, is that I could actually use holiday paper instead of sneaking it into the background of other layouts. With the exception of the red glittery paper, all paper came from DCWV’S The Christmas Stack.
Paper by DCWV, glitter paper & chipboard letters from Michaels, bit of Washi left over from My Mind’s Eye class.
